In the world that is horology, motorsport has always had a major place in this small and partially niche world. One of the original brands that was a major sponsor for Lotus and many other Formula One teams and continues to sponsor other major racing series and teams (MotoGP, FIM Superbike World Championship and the LeMans Prototype Racing team, Alpine) is none other than Tissot.

Today, we take a look at a racing inspired timepiece that has such a motorsports inspired look and feel as well as a fast and elegant aesthetic that has the feeling of a much more expensive timepiece of the same styling. Today we talk about the Tissot V8 quartz chronograph.

Inside the V8 Chronograph is the Swiss made ETA G10.212 quartz chronograph movement. The ETA G10.212 is a 29.8mm movement displaying hours, minutes, seconds and date. This movement supports 3 sub-dials (minute counter, small jumping seconds counter at 6:00 and a 1/10th second counter) as well as a date window at 6:00. The "seconds" hand is activated by the top pusher on the timepiece to use the Tachymeter function and a timer.
The Tissot V8 quartz chronograph is a Swiss made timepiece that creates an outstanding example of a marriage between horological machines and motorsport. The overall aesthetic of this timepiece resembles similar styling to other racing inspired watches and has such a high-speed and elegant look that creates a fast and aggressive timepiece with a hint of casual styling making it look amazing on or off the racing circuit.
The 42.5mm case size is a little larger than the average 40mm-41mm timepiece, but the curved lugs along with the 22mm lug width creates a fantastic and snug feel on wrist that balances out the slightly larger case size. The PVD coating on the case is applied very well and creates a gorgeous semi-gloss black finish that adds a sleek and bold aesthetic to the timepiece.
The dial on the V8 chronograph has a motorsports styling that also gives off a pristine and stealthy aesthetic with a very well presented and put together cluster of complications with 3 counter dials and a date complication at 6:00. Over the dial is a beautiful sapphire crystal followed by a black aluminium tachymeter bezel ring.
The Tissot V8 chronograph is an excellent example of a price friendly ($625 Canadian) racing inspired timepiece that won't break the bank and will always look fantastic on wrist. With its specs, wearability, aesthetic and the name of a brand that has been associated with motorsports for decades, as well as being associated with its extremely great quality timepieces, this watch is an absolutely amazing addition for any collector, racing fan or not. The Tissot V8 chronograph has been an absolute pleasure to wear and write about.
